Delicious!
May. 18th, 2007 10:34 pmClearly, crochet, knitting, sewing, and all my other hobbies were NOT GIRLY ENOUGH. So, I've taught myself how to can food. :D Made a completely delicious pumpkin butter, and canned it up! Of the 4 jars; 1 sealed immediately out of the water, 2 soon thereafter, and the last one just after I gave up on it. XD
Pumpkin Butter
Ingredients:
-15 oz Can of Pumpkin
-1/4 cup Maple Syrup
-1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
-1/2 Teaspoon All Spice
-1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
-Dash of Nutmeg
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, mix together the pumpkin and maple syrup until they’re completely blended. Feel free to put in extra syrup.
Stir the mixture for about 10 - 15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens to a nice consistency. The stirring keep any from burning to the bottom of the pan. Thereby, keep it up the whole time!
Once it’s nice and thick-looking, remove from heat and mix in all the spices. I put them all in a plastic cup while I was stirring, just to multi-task the time away/speed up the process.
Here, put it into a jar and let it cool to room temperature before putting it in the fridge if you plan on just eating it in the next month or so.
Or you can can it, and have the total nerdy fun I had. :D

Hoo! Pictures later (Elise laughed at me. :( I'm such an "LJ'd!" sort of person), assuming I don't start looking for more things to can.
